Helping Hands (The Haverhill Gazette) Suicide-prevention training to begin Members of the Haverhill Community Violence Coalition and the Northeast Coalition for Suicide Prevention will begin master training classes to help launch a suicide-prevention program in Haverhill. Helping hands (The Haverhill Gazette) Allegiance Hospice seeks compassionate individuals to provide companionship to patients in local nursing homes. As part of an interdisciplinary team you will have the opportunity for a rewarding volunteer experience. Training and support provided, weekly commitment of one to two hours. NECC students collect books for young patients (The Haverhill Gazette) Children waiting to be X-rayed at area hospitals will have age-appropriate reading materials, thanks to radiologic technology students at Northern Essex Community College. Students of Professor Carol Wallace collected more than 100 used children's books and distributed them to six local radiology department waiting rooms. Local family hosts fundraiser for hospice (The Haverhill Gazette) A Haverhill family was so touched by the end-of-life services their father, Richard Barker, received during the winter of 2007 from Merrimack Valley Hospice, they wanted to do something to give back. For the second year, the Barker family hosted a barbecue to raise money for the organization.
